Funny Money 15 Sep ... 24 Sep 16
A farce written by Ray Cooney and directed by Ken Tyrrell.
Holsworthy Amateur Theatrical Society (H.A.T.S.)'s next production sees Ken Tyrrell back in the director’s chair with ‘FUNNY MONEY’ - a crazy, hilarious farce by the master writer Ray Cooney.
Imagine, if you will, picking up a wrong briefcase and later finding it contains £735,000 in used fifty pound notes? This is Henry Perkins’ dilemma. Give it back? Keep it? Run away with it? Henry’s decision starts the two hours of comedic shenanigans that will have the audiences rolling about. Henry is played brilliantly by Dave King and his long suffering wife, Jean, is played by Diana Sluggett. Their friends, Vic (Martin Jordan) and Betty (Stephanie Devoy) are expecting a celebratory dinner but are unwittingly dragged into Henry’s scheming. Add to this one bent policeman (Alan Eyles) and another cop who does everything by the book (Colin Burton); and a taxi driver (Peter Whitehead) who’s fare is nothing like what he expects and he too gets enmeshed in the goings-on. The mix brings about a fast piece of theatrical madness which is compounded by the arrival of ‘Mr Big’ who wants his money back and doesn’t care how he gets it!
